Network Infrastructure & Cabling Project

Cat6 CablingCampus InfrastructurePhysical Network

Project Overview

This project involved hands-on physical network infrastructure work at Central Community College. The focus was on installing, terminating, and testing Cat6 plenum-rated cabling to support the college’s network backbone and end-user connectivity across classrooms and office spaces.

Key Accomplishments

  • Installed and terminated Cat6 plenum-rated cabling throughout campus facilities, including classrooms, offices, and network closets, meeting TIA/EIA-568 standards.
  • Properly routed and managed cables using conduit, cable trays, and patch panels for a clean, organized, and maintainable infrastructure.
  • Performed cable certification testing to verify continuity, correct pin mapping, and signal integrity on all installed runs.
  • Created and maintained detailed network asset documentation including cable run labels, patch panel maps, and floor plan markups.
  • Assisted with troubleshooting endpoint and network connectivity issues following infrastructure changes using Wireshark and cable testers.
  • Collaborated with senior IT staff to coordinate cabling work with minimal disruption to ongoing campus operations.
